NOCN SiteRight Cable Avoidance Training
This advanced 7 hour long NOCN Site Right course has been designed by Leica Detection and has received industry approval for it’s superior content and emphasis on practical applications. We can deliver this training for up to 6 people either at our dedicated training facility in Shropshire or at your venue (subject to suitability and Covid security).
Courses are limited to six attendees to ensure a good trainer to attendee ratio and to aid Covid Security . The Attendees do not require any previous experience in Cable Avoidance Tools but must have a good understanding of the English language

- All Training equipment and stationary material will be provided.
The Theory.
Our course starts out in a classroom situation with a background on utility detection and avoidance. This is an important element of the course as it covers
- Why we use Cable Avoidance equipment.
- Guidance and Regulations.
- Risks and consequences.
- The theory of Electro Magnetic Locating (EML)
- EML limitations and possible solutions.
- Assessing the work area for signal interference and working within it
- Utility identification.
- Effective initial use of the Signal Transmitter in Induction and Connection.
- Locating techniques.
- Using crossover to aid Avoidance.
- Accessories and applying techniques.
- Written assessment.
- Data analysis software overview (if requested).
Practical Sessions.
As part of this course there will be two practical elements to ensure as much hands on experience is obtained as possible.
The first covers:
- Carrying out an equipment check,
- Visual inspection of the work area.
- Assessing the area for utilities.
- Calibration and Health check verification.
- Search and pinpoint utilities to familiarize the trainee to automatic sensitivity.
- How to obtain utility directions.
- Different tracing methods.
The second practical covers:
- Survey an allocated area using Active and Passive modes.
- Carry out a 25 task practical assessment.
- Transmitter Induction methods and nulling.
- Transmitter connection and utility verification.
- Locating and verifying shallow utilities.
- How to obtain multiple depth estimations and verify reliability.
- Verification and identifying connected utilities using the numeric indicators.
- Radial and Parallel sweeps if required.
Assessments are carried out during the Practical elements with feedback and recommendations provided to the employer.
A Site Right Construction Skills card will be issued upon successful completion of the course.
